Timeline Focus

During the first 9 weeks of school, students are studying timelines in all subject areas.

In Science, elementary students are studying the evolution of agriculture on a world-wide timeline. The senior group is making a literal “timeline” of agriculture and food production. This project starts in 38,000 BC and has progressed to 4 BC, so far! This timeline is on display in the science room. Come in and check it out!

For morning work in the Reading Room, students are learning about how language has evolved, starting with cuneiform. Students have made a language timeline, from cuneiform in 5000 BC to Egyptian demotic writing in 800 BC. We have also learned about hieroglyphics, the Phoenician alphabet, and the early Greek alphabet. Reading Room students will make cuneiform clay tablets in Art this week with Miss E.

Both the preschool and the Math Roomers are making their life timeline with pictures.

All students are studying the evolution of art and how art became a part of all cultures. Students are looking at cave paintings, making paint from objects in nature, and making simple clay symbols and objects. This timeline focus will continue until the midterm.
