The Children’s House Annual Meeting was held on Tuesday, November 24. More than 85 friends and family attended! 3 new board members were nominated, Sheila Patrick, Erin Hall, and Steve Oechsle. We welcome these new members to our Board of Directors.
Students did theatrical adaptations of the poems of Shel Silverstein, under the direction of our science teacher, Abee Louden. And with the guidance of Mr. TJ Reynolds, the Reading Roomers and the Seniors did a musical performance of several Motown classics, to the delight of our audience.
We also had the drawing for our 50/50 raffle, which had received $360 in donations for tickets. Mr. Steve Oechsle won the drawing, and generously donated his winnings to The Children’s House!!
The Seniors will be attending “: The Nutcracker” at Clowes Memorial Hall on Friday, December 4. Students in art are sewing fleece hats and mittens, getting ready for a chilly winter! They are also “felting” with Mrs. Bubenzer, getting ready to make gifts for the holiday season.
Winter Break starts after school on December 18. Classes will resume January 4, 2010.
The Children's House was founded in 1971 to provide a classical education through individual instruction. Today, in an atmosphere free of competition, the child can discover his or her unique talents on the way to becoming a self actualized person. The Children's House offers primary education in Math, Science, Reading, and Art. Music, Yoga, Latin, Literature, History, and Dance are also integral components of the school's curriculum.
